About Joy Mbelu

I didn't set out to build a career in procurement. Like a lot of people, I found my way into it and realized I was good at the parts others found hard: the negotiations, the tangled contracts, the supplier relationships, the work of creating order where there was none. Over the past 15+ years, I've grown from the ground up into senior global procurement roles. Today I manage large consulting portfolios, negotiate multi-million-dollar agreements, and build the sourcing and governance structures that big organizations depend on. A meaningful part of that journey has been building a senior career after moving to Canada and starting again in a new country. But the part of my story I most want you to know doesn't show up on paper. This path wasn't smooth. I've worked under demanding managers, sat through seasons of real self-doubt, and had to learn how to advocate for myself and the value of my work. Those hard stretches taught me as much as the wins did, and they're a big part of why I do this now. I know what it feels like to want to grow and be unsure of the next step.
